I have received multiple calls from multiple phone numbers over the past few days regarding a patient. Various people leave messages inquiring into the patient's medical records.The caller(s) continuously ask for me to call them back and confirm that I received their fax request for the patient's medical records (I don't have a fax and haven't received a medical records request or release of information).

I have the same phone quality experience: I received voicemail from a supposedly disability insurance representative requesting medical records for a supposedly patient (provides a name and birthdate for said patient), but does not supply a release of information / patient consent for records release. The caller claims urgency and insists on a prompt callback. - The call originates from this number but the callback number provided is different (detected as a suspicious scam: 212-223-3228)

calling daily of late, left multiple difficult to understand messages (speaking quickly, many voices in background like a call center, poor call quality) on our business voice mail "urgently" requesting records for supposed patient, supplies a name and birthdate for said patient, but does not supply a release of information / patient consent for records release and does not verify our business' accuracy before leaving this information. Can anyone say HIPAA violation? Sounds like a scam to me.
