Please be advised that if you have requested a new Direct Express card through the SSA, this is the number you will need to validate your account in order to receive a new card. You must give the code they send you through text in order to have your card processed. I was informed by the SSA that I would receive a call and I would need to validate my account by giving the phone number on my account as well as confirm that I requested a new Direct Express Card. I know it's a valid number because I called DE prior to this call and was able to use my last 4 of my current DE card. After this call when I called DE, once I put in my SSN it told me that I should receive my new DE card within 2 business days. The SSA cannot expedite shipping in DE cards. They can only send payments. The regular processing time to receive a new direct express card is 10-15 business days, therefore if this above call was not legitimate, then the 8887411115 number would not have my debit card replacement scheduled to be received within 2 business days. It's a legitimate phone number you just cannot initiate calls to them. Consider the millions of customers who receive their benefits through DIRECT EXPRESS. This service isn't the typical Customer Service line they handle accounts they have a number for that. They can't have millions of people calling them back. This is how you receive your monthly benefit. If you want your DE card and expedited, you do in fact need to answer this call and provide the 6 digit code.
