Thought this was a scam until this company called my parents and my husband's mother. When I took out some student loans I used my parents and my mother in law as references. I called the number they left with them and went off and told them to send me a letter. A couple days later I got a letter in the mail from General Revenue Corporation. I called back and they asked me to verify my birthday and social, I refused. They asked me if the last four of my social was ****, it was. Then I verified the numbers of my street address and they were able to go from there. Found out they were trying to get in touch with me about my federal perkins loan. They asked if I could pay my balance in full because it was in default. I wasnt working so I couldnt. They told me then to consolidate my loan through the Dept of Ed. They walked me through the application, took 20 minutes. That stopped the calls and brought my loan current. Also, helped my credit. Hope this helped any confusion.
