Called to verify a Zelle transfer and a Charge. Knew immediately that it was fraud for 2 reasons: 1) I get instant notifications of charges. 2) He didn’t use proper protocol.

They called saying someone opened up an account on my behalf. The caller ID says Wells Fargo. The prick preached about not asking me for personal info. I asked about a call back #, That was fishy when I googled it. He gave me confirmation numbers for a couple of zelle transactions to a Rebecca Williams in TX for $2,000 and $1,500 (WFG001998.018, WFG001989.07) BIG RED FLAG (they also had me repeat it ). Also an account has to have money in it in order to send a zelle and when I asked if there was money in the account he said No. LMBO! He said Zelle will take it from your main account and the transaction can go through at anytime unless I go through with the cancellation process. I hung up and they continued to call me back while I was on the phone with the REAL wells fargo. These scammers need to put a DIC* in their mouth and shut the F up talking that BS! STUPID SCAMMING AS* PEOPLE!!!

They claim to be from Wells Fargo’s fraud department. They said there was two transactions from New York for a total of $3500. They asked me if I recognize the name of the certain person that was trying to take out Zelle money from my account. I don’t use Zelle on my account so it sounded really strange. Then he asked me if I was in New York? He seemed to want to know my location. I wasn’t giving him any information about . I replied I do not know that name. He then asked me if I had received two text messages from them before he called. I told him no I did not receive any text messages. He said that oh they might have taken over your phone line and copied your phone number. We might have to change your phone number on our system so they don’t access your account. It sounded really shady so I told him I have to call them back. I have no idea why these people have nothing better to do than scam people, out of their hard earned money! Get a real job! I called the number and back of my card. I confirm with them that nothing was wrong as I suspected. I changed my credit card number just to be safe if you get this call, please do the same!

Same as above. Got a call from Wells Fargo fraud dept claiming someone named Jessica Davis was trying to get 3500.00 from my Zelle. He forwarded me to a David Perez who took all kinds of info. Told me to enter a recipient into my Zelle list. Money would not go thru so he had me change to acct it was coming from stating that it was to STOP the payment. When I checked my acct. $3500.00 was withdrawn. This is a TOTAL SCAM. Working with the real WF to get this resolved. Cd

Same thing happened to me. Call came in as wells Fargo. Caller said I needed to verify zelle transactions started to guide me through the process. Sent me to text messages saying they were from wells Fargo. When it started to feel off I said I was close to a branch and would feel more comfortable in the bank the caller started to lose patience and started raising his voice I told him I was headed into the bank and he quickl disconnected. I went into the branch and was told to not answer bank calls if its legit they will leave a message.

Call came in on my cell. Came up as WELLS FARGO. Caller identified himself to be from Wells Fargo Fraud Prevention Dept. Created artificial urgency to get 2 NY transactions blocked. Once for $500 and another for $3500. Caller said he would text a code to my cell. Then asked me if I received the code and stated for me not to share the code with him or anyone. He said Wells Fargo employees will never ask you for the code. (BTW, the text came to the correct cell and under the usual text thread I receive from Wells Fargo. This was a very elaborate scheme.) Then he gave me a case # and transferred me to his manager. One of the red flags was there was no music playing during the transfer. The manager asked me for the case # that was provided to me previously and said he'd lead me through checking my Zelle. Said he'd help me authorize the blocking of the transactions. Started to lead me through steps and when he realized I wasn't doing the steps he indicated more urgently that the steps needed to be done to block the transactions. I was calling the Wells Fargo Fraud line (800 869-3557), that's why I wasn't doing his steps. I wish these folks would get real jobs and spend as much time/effort at doing something positive

I received a call from (877) 645-1641 and they claimed to be the fraud department for Wells Fargo, regarding Zelle transactions that they were questioning. They said one was for $2k and the other for $1500 going to a William Johnson's Wells Fargo bank account. They had my name, address, and phone number (probably easy to get online). I told them I do not know anyone by that name and have not initiated any zelle transactions. I also do not have any pending zelle transactions. He claimed that the guy was using the Zelle app and was able to enter my information. He said he will send me a code that I need to enter online with my bank as a Zelle to cancel the transaction. I told him there is no transaction to cancel. I received a texted code from 93557, and he told me that I need to use that. I told him I do not believe him. I also told him that I see online many other people who have been contacted by them with the same story and same amounts, and I do not find that to be a coincidence. He kept trying to reassure me that he was telling the truth. I told him that if they are the receiving bank, then to verify the last 4 digits of my bank acct # that he claims is being used. He said he cannot do that because if he gives incorrect info he can lose his job, LOL. Right! I told him that all of this smells funny and I don't buy it. I hung up on him. Unbelievable how elaborate these scams are becoming.

Pretended to be from Wells Fargo fraud prevention dept. Had very limited information and were very vague as to the issue other than creating artificial urgency to get these transactions blocked. Hung up on them after looking up the legitimate WF fraud number and seeing it was different.

Got a call from 877 645 1641 claiming to be Wells Fargo, caller id said Wells Fargo, advised that there were 2 Zelle transactions on for $2K an one for $1500 and asked if I knew the names of who they went to, I said no, asked me if I had a pen or pencil to write down a claim number and when I said no he said they would put me on a call back number and disconnected the call. I called Wells Fargo at 1 800 869 3557 and Edward told me that the number 877 645 1641 was not a Well Fargo number, which I told him it certainly was, he checked further, no issues with my account and told me to block and report the number that the scammer called from.

This is a well known scam where they claim to be the Fraud dept and trying to get you to go to your account and enter their "claim number", which is THEIR phone number, and then you send them money - don't fall for it. I told them I approve the charges and to let them thru - they didn't know how to respond and hung up on me...ha haha!

Guy called, said he was from Wells Fargo (don't have a card) and said that there was transfers paying two people, he gave two names and asked if I knew of this? He did have my name though. I then told him this was a scam and he hung up.

The caller introduced himself as a WF employee, said that someone tried to transfer money from my account via Zelle and asked to perform some actions on my account. I hung up and called the WF bank scam complaint service.
