I also got this letter, it is asking me to call this number regarding to an account that was opened and closed during the same day. 16 years ago. I called WF website's customer number, gave them the reference number and they said it is legit, but requires my last 4 digits of my SS# which I refused and gave them a lecture about what the heck is happening with them. They replied saying they cant give me more info as they can't confirm my identity. So I am puzzle what is going on with WF. I don't have any account with them for more than 10 years. A couple of areas in the letter that got me curious. It is addressed to my old name, and a brand new address from a n investment property. How the heck they got the address? Are hackers controlling their website?

This is Legit, call the number on the back of your bank card if your that worried. That's what I did and they confirmed it. WF has lost multiple major lawsuits. They have hired people to convince you its a scam and get you to throw this letter out, at a minimum this they owe you 255$. If they convince you to throw the leter out from a few posts on here or reddit, thats a lot cheapper than paying everyone. Id try to convince you it was a scam too and print it on crap papper with a worn out logo too. Call and make them pay you for sharing your information without your consent. Its 100% legit.

P.S. This is B.S. This is a fraudulent number and letter. Wells Fargo did not have a record of this number in their system.

Got this letter today from the alleged Wells Fargo. Not sure if its legit so I called Wells Fargo customer service and its legit.

Received a letter which looks like it was printed on fake letterhead from Wells Fargo. The Logo certainly looks fake. I called Wells Fargo customer service and they said the letter did not come from them. I will take it to my Wells Fargo branch and have the Manager check it out and warn other customers.

KK comment below is correct. I called Wells Fargo customer advisory group. 844 931 2273. They confirmed the letter is legitimate. If you are in doubt, call them first to get confirmation.

Do not fall for this. I had no account with Wells Fargo 10 years ago and supposedly I was enrolled in some identity theft. The number in the letter is not Wells Fargo either. It’s a scam letter… beware! Do nothing other than burn up letter. Do not provide ssn or other personal data. I did have an account with them over 20 years ago but they shouldn’t need to have enrolled me in identity protection 10 years later as my account was closed long ago. If it’s third party related then it shouldn’t use Wells Fargo logo which looks fake on letter. Still not legit.

Got the same letter. i made the mistake of calling, and the woman told me before she could continue, she needed my ss # to "verify my identity" .. i hung up. i don't believe Wells Fargo asks anyone for their SS #

Got the letter that looked odd from Wells Fargo. I called them (not the number on the letter) but 800-869-3557. Was transferred to the Customer Advocacy Group and they told me the letter was legit but did come from a 3rd party.

received letter also with information that wife had purchased Identity theft protection from Affinion product back in April 2010 to June 1st 2010, 13 yrs ago, same orange WF logo, looked up WF customer service numbers not even close. There is a Customer Care ID at the top of the page 40061433 PO Box 2000, Portland, OR 97208-2000

Supposed letter from Wells Fargo but I am unable to find any record of this being a Wells Fargo number. Logo is orange instead of red red. Mentions I had identity theft protection for one month from Affinion way way back in 2012. I didn't. Letter wants me to call them so they "may care for any impact this enrollment may have caused". What?
