This phone number is legit (866) 317-9685. It is an automated recording going over your last transactions and for you to verify it. If you receive a random call form the credit union phone number 1-800-533-0035 which is also the credit unions phone number than you need to take precaution, because the scammers have cloned that phone number and are using it to take advantage of people that are unaware. The credit union will not call you directly from the phone number 1-800-533-0035.

I just minutes earlier purchased something online and got a call from this number. it was automated and asked if I was in fact me (they gave me my name), then the recording explained they were verifying a purchase I made. Asked me my zip code and gave me 4 to choose from. Then they asked me the last 4 of my SSN and gave me 4 choices to select from. But then they asked me to verify my birthdate at which point I hung up without providing that info. I called the AAEFCU number on the back of my card going thru the tree selecting "debit card" and spoke to someone who had absolutely no idea what I was talking about. So I called back the main number and pressed 0 to speak to someone and found they are open only business hours M-F (Central time I presume). I was VERY uncomfortable with the information the automated verification call was asking me to verify. I'm concerned this was an identity theft call, but I don't know. Either way, be careful - they ask a lot of identity theft questions.

I called the credit union back at the main number (not this one) and it turns out it's legit. They transferred me to the Fraud Prevention dept and they just had questions on a charge I made yesterday. It was not a scam.

My fellow AAFCU members, do yourself a favor and block this number. It's a complete scam. After I answered the call I waited about 10 seconds before an automated voice came on and started sprawling about card fraud. I instantly hung up. Called me 3 times, third time left a robot voicemail saying it was American Airlines credit union. I had already been notified by my bank of actual fraud and talked to them so I new this was a scam. Don’t answer!
