Scam

Very strange... an unsolicited scam call that plays a recording about the Takata airbag recall for a car brand that I have never owned. The NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) initiated in 2014 what is now the largest ever safety recall in U.S. history due to Takata airbags that can explode and send metal shrapnel into the head and chest of front passengers. More than 40 million cars are involved in this recall so far. Since all safety recalls like this are free to the consumer, I think this is a data-mining scam where they want you to call them back so they can obtain lots of personal information about you and your car. Maybe they then sell the personal and auto information about you on the dark web or sell your data to other telemarketers. Many phone surveys are also actually data-mining scams - they are not doing legitimate opinion poll research, but they are collecting information about you. But if you are not familiar with the Takata airbag recall, you should google it and check if your car's year and model are affected. The potentially lethal Takata airbags use ammonium nitrate to create an explosion that inflates the airbags. But the defective airbags also spray out shrapnel like a hand grenade. Ammonium nitrate was used in the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing and is the possible cause of the recent massive explosion in Beirut, so airbags are essentially a miniature controlled explosion. But the Takata airbags being recalled also explode out shrapnel along with the airbag. 16 people have died and more than 250 injured due to these defective airbags.
