There’s a very strange scam happening with Home Depot. I rented a truck and returned it on time. Now I keep getting calls from this number saying I have an outstanding balance. I called corporate and they said my account is cleared and I have nothing to worry about. Went to the store I rented from and they said all is good. Weird thing is my card declined a charge from Home Depot, so they are trying to charge me despite the fact corporate says I’m cleared. What the hell is going on ?

This call is to request to return equipment, that they state I rented from out of state. I have never rented any equipment from Home depot. I don't even have a Home Depot card. So, I'm sure this is a scam.

A recorded "courtesy call" from Home Depot claiming an outstanding balance was due on a rental contract - not true. The disturbing aspect was that earlier in the day I paid the balance for a rental tool when I returned it to HD. It appears that HD is either harassing legitimate customers in good standing or scammers have tapped into HD rental records.

Fraudsters posing as Home Depot. Dude had Indian accent for starters. And I never had a Home Depot credit card issued by Citibank, and never even had any Citibank credit card. And I have not rented anything from Home Depot in 15+ years!
