I received several calls from (855)543-5074 identifying themselves as being with United Health Care (UHC) and indicating they wanted to talk to my father (UHC customer, who is 87 years old). I manage my dad's medicals and indicated I could add him to a three-way call so that I can assist him. United healthcare confirmed that the number corresponds to the Retirement Medicare Advantage UHC department. Indication is that they usually call when a member was in-patient in a hospital, which my dad was. Hence, the number is legit and I will be following up with them.

855-543-5074. This number is a scam. I received the call and they left a voicemail. I confirmed with United Healthcare this is not them or anyone affiliated with them.

We were away from the phone when 855-543-5074 called so they left a voicemail on 4/24/25. A rep who said was calling on behalf from UnitedHealthcare said they had a clinician to talk to us about resources that were available. We called back the next day and they wanted to verify patient info by asking us patient’s birthdate and address. They even had an interpreter handy to translate in Spanish for our mother via a 3-way call with a translator. We gave the info to them and they then started asking us follow-up questions about a recent ER visit. They then connected us with one of their care team registered nurses who asked us questions about our recent ER visit along with what symptoms our mother was experiencing. The nurse said due to the recent ER visit “UHC provides this additional service to follow-up with you. And support any questions/concerns or anything you may have. This consultation is intended to be educational and supportive in nature. But it’s not diagnostic, so no precriptions, orders, or treatment recommendations are provided.” NOTE: If it was a scam they wouldn’t have known that we had just visited the hospital a couple days prior. So, we believe it is a valid UHC number. The last question their nurse asked was if we had an Urgent Care walk-in clinic nearby where we lived. (Makes us think that they prefer that we go to Urgent Care instead of a hospital so that they don’t have to deal with expensive medical claims.) Other than birthdate and address, no other personal info was inquired during the 14-minute phone call.

3 tiered SCAM! Asking how a recent homecare visit went when there wasn't one. Then tries to schedule a home care visit. Appointment made is turns into a telephone visit. Then a call stating my daughter was in a terrible accident hitting pregnant women while on cell phone and $9000 cash is needed for her bail. Family member called daughter who was fine. Horrible SCAM! They knew all our names making it seem legit. I checked and called number on my Insurance card. Different number and UHC said they never called! BEWARE!

The caller said they are from United Healthcare and want to help you with additional resources after getting info from you. I contacted UHC afterwards and they said they did NOT call me. Don’t take the call.
