What is this scam? How do I determine if this is a scam?

While many debt collection calls are legitimate, scammers also use debt collection calls. They may call about a phony or old debt and try to scare you into paying. Debt collection scammers often want immediate payment. These robocallers may also request a method a legitimate collection agency would never use -- debt collection scammers often push for gift cards or wire transfer.

Debt Collector
Caller Name: uNKNOWN - COLLECTOR

Receive several calls everyday from here giving the option to call and clear up a debt. The person they call for does not work here and has never worked here. No idea who it is - how do they get these numbers and when they don't get a response why don't they stop. I even did a "call block" on them and they call from another number. SCAMMER - but they are scary, too.

Scam
Caller Name: holly evans called for 'james neil xt703131' order to complete an audit for a client .... (I don't know him)

I don't know the person call is intended for. Wrong name may be an attempt to get my response. The calls are a damn nuisance and most probably a scam.

Got the same call. They gave us an address where they were located locally. They gave me an address to a suite at the District court house. After challenging them on this, they didn't answer anymore questions. Most definitely a scam!

Debt Collector
Caller Name: P&R

Zombie debt collector posing as a legal or document firm, not sure they simply didn't want to clearly describe what they actually do. After a second call to them they somewhat admitted that they purchased some out of statue debt that they're trying to get some money for. A bankruptcy discharge date, case number, and no admittance to owing any such debt sent them on their way.

Scam

i get calls from this number and from 844-649-4630, all the same. SCAM! Here is text from every single voicemail, they're all identical (and the same as what others post here). Hello my name is Holly. Let the record show. This message is intended for xxx . I received an order to complete an audit for a client that we represent. Therefore it is your legal rights to provide a verbal statement and you to be aware of this before any proceedings. We have made several attempts to reach you via phone and or your address that's on record and were not successful due to no response or documents were undeliverable. One final attempt will be made to your place of employment and or residence. To schedule an alternate location and or provide a statement. Scam likely.
