Person calling is supposed to be from AT&T. I have been overcharged $57and wanted to know how I wanted my refund. I told them to credit my account and they wanted account number and I told them that they should have it since they are the ones who are calling. The person told me to " go to hell". Big scam!!

I believe this call was the same scam that I fell for several times in 2018. Someone claiming to call from AT&T tells me my account was over charged last month, and asks if I want the refund in the form of a gift card or refunded to my acct. in 2018, multiple times I indicated I wanted the money refunded to my acct. Then the caller said they would send me a text message with a code, which I would have to repeat back to them. In each case, this seemed to give them access to my account, where they appeared to have changed my password as well as sometimes added another contact person and email address to the account. Eventually, I would try to log in to the account, realize I didn’t seem to know my password (because the scammer changed it) and AT&T would have to reset it for me. I never saw any sort of refund put back in my acct. But the scammer could have used their access to my acct to order another phone line and phone or other equipment, which would be charged to me. This never happened, but could have. The scary thing is the caller sounds like he’s with AT&T. The text message he sends looks like it’s from AT&T - it even uses the same wording real AT&T messages use. So beware of AT&T calling to say they over charged you last month and want to give you a refund.
