Leaves the following message, which is the same information repeated twice by an automated system. "Hi there, my name is Alex. I'm a pharmacist calling from United Healthcare to share some information. Please feel free to give me a call back at 833-677-3835. Looking forward to speaking with you soon. Thank you and I hope you have a great rest of your day." If you return the call, the automated system states "Thank you for calling us. If this is a medical emergency, hang up and dial 911. This call may be monitored and recorded for quality purposes. Please stay on the line for the next available pharmacy representative." They do not identify as part of any specific health insurance company until the pharmacy representative answers. THEY ARE CONTRACTED TO PROVIDE SERVICES BY MANY DIFFERENT INSURANCE COMPANIES. They will announce the insurance company name when the pharmacist answers your call and has your record pulled up to discuss the reason for the call. It is a legitimate call from the pharmacist about your medications. It is an oversight and patient education program to help mitigate medication errors, non compliance with prescription drug therapy, contraindications, interactions, or other prescription risk issues with medications you are prescribed. These pharmacists provide services for multiple health insurance companies. When you return their call, it does not identify the insurance company by name until you speak to the pharmacist. The pharmacist will need to verify your identity to comply with HIPAA by confirming your name and date of birth or full mailing address. They will have your primary care provider information along with your pharmacy prescription information, which is provided to them by the insurance company they are contracted to support.

I don't KNOW who it is because I don't answer unknown number calls! Why do people still answer those? If they aren't in your CONTACTS, don't answer. If they are legit, they will leave a voicemail. If they DON'T, then BLOCK THEM! I always enter the number in Google Search to see if it does belong to a real organization or person, too..... It never does. The search often leads to this site. Blocked. Take a minute to check and then BLOCK. If you answer, you've possibly let a scammer know they've found an active number, and they'll keep calling. Who knows why, but don't give them the satisfaction.
