Got a call regarding a payday loan that I don’t think I took out. Caller had my name and vague information about me. The flags were this: Had the wrong address for me and didn’t want the correct one. Couldn’t tell me the name of the payday loan company other than ‘it was a major one.’ Wasn’t sure what state the loan was made. When I said it was possible that I knew who took out the loan and I would get him on the line to pay it, the woman refused to accept payment and the line went dead. I wasn’t sure if it was my cell phone dropping the call so I called back and the woman said ‘I’m not going to argue with you’ and hung up. Why would a debt collector refuse a corrected mailing address and possible payment? Why would a scammer?
