FedEx impostors calling from India!!!

Fishing attempt, not FedEx.
October 8, 2025
I got a voicemail and the woman was so out of breath talking, it sounded straight off a script. What makes me nervous is they referenced information on the label that is accurate. However I already received the package. Does this mean there is a leak at FedEx? I don’t get emails about FedEx deliveries.
October 8, 2025
This is definitely not FedEx. Gave me a “case number”. Sounds more like a scam to get someone to call them. I have ordered no packages that FedEx would be delivering.

When I researched all the information it was FedEx trying to deliver a package I was waiting to have delivered. I transposed my numbers on my address by mistake. The reference number they give you is legitimate call the number back and give them the reference number that was left for you and they will verify who you purchased from and the package to be delivered

THIS IS 100% A SCAM CALL from 833-372-5815. I just verified it with FedEx at 800-463-3339, which is the FedEx number. Message stated, "Hello, good morning. My name is Alex from FedEx Ground. We have a package addressed to (my business name) that our driver was unable to deliver today. We are simply trying to confirm if we have the correct address to make another delivery attempt on the next business day. If you can please call us back at 833-372-5815 to help us resolve the situation, and when you call us back, please reference the 7-digit unique identification number, which is ####### (not putting in numbers). Our hours of operation are..." It did not provide any info like a shipper name, tracking number, etc. I suspected it was fraud, looked it up and there are links stating it is both a valid number and a fraudulent number. I called the number and was told to call back because their system wasn't working. I called the actual FedEx number and verified this is a fraudulent call. This is NOT a FedEx number.

Left a voicemail claiming to verify my address for an undelivered package. Gave a “reference” number and this phone number. I called my local FedEx rep and was told it’s a scam. They advised NOT to call back the number given but to call FedEx directly as it’s not how FedEx handles missed deliveries.

833-372-5815 is a legitimate FedEx number ... 1. The call came in as SPAM RISK on my AT&T Wireless device. A major corporation like FedEx should have the wherewithal, and common sense, to have their calling system dialing with a clearly labeled Caller I.D., visible to all carriers, wireless or landline. 2. I was in the middle of a delayed FedEx Ground shipping issue (completely unacceptable failure on FedEx's part - but that's another story), so I took the chance of answering. Not that I have any issues with people who have thick foreign accents, but immediately it had that 'overseas suspicious' sound to it. It turned out to be a LEGITIMATE call. 3. Three days later, I learned that I received the call regarding MY package, two minutes AFTER the same person, from the same number, had left a voice message on my MOTHER's wireless device (her wireless carrier showed the Caller I.D. as 'FEDEXSVCSFXG'). 3a. Though 'almost' a valid Caller I.D. (for my mother), it still feels very suspicious. 3b. Perhaps of equal consequence, WTF are they doing calling my mother, and how/why is her number associated with my shipment??? 4. Calls to the local FedEx Ground office revealed that they too are completely unfamiliar with 833-372-5815, though the national (800)# was familiar with it. Long and short of it ... 833-372-5815 is indeed from FedEx, but nonetheless the whole thing feels very sketchy. ... and good luck trying to contact someone, somewhere, in the maze of FedEx extensions and departments that can even begin to remotely answer or resolve questions regarding any of the above, including the reason as to why my package was deemed "Unable to Deliver".

Don’t be swayed by the fake messages saying it was actually FedEx. It’s not. When my attorney called them they identified themselves as a bill collector and stated they are generally successful in making contact or serving papers for debt lawsuits. Claiming to be from fedex needing to confirm an address to deliver some unknown package to some unknown person is shady.

August 24, 2020
Got a call from this number, was suspicious, gentleman with heavy accent and difficult to understand reports trying to verify my address for a package delivery. Said he was with FedEx ground. Was able to tell me accurately where the package was being sent from and to whom and to what address but said his driver was unable to locate the address on delivery attempt. Said they have a lot of new drivers .. I hung up called the known FedEx number and indeed they did confirm this as a number that does handle some of their ground deliveries. The next day the package was delivered as ordered. I also did learn that the package which I had sent to my Fathers address was difficult to deliver since my brother had recently painted and indeed their was not number address on the mailbox or the house. COMPLETELY LEGITIMATE actions this time..Thank God.

FedEx
August 3, 2020
It is a computer generated voice with what sounds like a India accent. They claim that a package was attempted to be delivered but couldn't find address. The issue with this whole thing is that I NEVER give my mobile number except to people I know, I use my land line number that I don't really use. So, for them to contact me on my mobile is a red flag. Couldn't find my address but they found my mobile number I did not provide. FedEx would just send the package back to the sender and let them deal with.
July 22, 2020
Asked for correct address, and gave "unique record ID". I called several legitimate FedEx support desks to get help. This is a scam. Please do not respond.
June 14, 2020
After reading the comments ,found by researching the number, because I had a message to call with a reference # on a Saturday night, it was legit , Fed Ex needed my home address due to the fact the package was addressed to my PO Box, package was delivered on Monday, driver said he had the package since Saturday, but needed the physical. Also I too had a representative that I could barely understand.
June 1, 2020
Someone with foreign accent from FEDEX claiming they tried to deliver package but i wasn't home. But I was home....all day. Must be fake
May 10, 2020
I got a legitimate call from this number (1-833-372-5815) and they identified themselves on the message. When I called back with the reference number, THEY gave ME the name and address and said they couldn't deliver it. The address was wrong; they fixed it, the package was delivered the next day.

Fed Ex scam?
April 28, 2020
Very heavy indian accent claims to need my address to deliver a package. He sounded very weird and like he was reading a prompter. they called three times back to back i assume to make it seem as if it is urgent. Very scary. when you call back it says this call is being recorded but no one answers. Very suspicious. I'm also not expecting anything from anyone.
April 23, 2020
I received this call suspiciously labelled as "United States" and they left a message that they were unable to deliver a package. I called back, gave them the "unique identifier" they left on their message, and they pulled-up all my information and read it off to me - a package I was fully expecting - with some unique information on the label. After they read everything back, I told them only that there was one small item wrong. They had "Street" instead of "Drive", and where I live, that's huuuuuge. All information they already had was otherwise complete and correct, I told them nothing other than correcting to "Drive". It is entirely possible this number is being spoofed by others who indeed are scammers, but my particular experience was legit.

Fake Fedex (or UPS or DHL) scam call by madarchod criminals phoning from India This is a fake Fedex scam call by criminals phoning from India, phishing for packages and trying to steal your personal information, address, credit card number, and Social Security number. This call often begins with either a pre-recorded robotic speaker or the actual human scammer reading from a script who pretends to be either Fedex, DHL, or UPS couriers. The scam message is sometimes generated in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, and Chinese, using text-to-speech translation software to disguise the origin of this India scam and the messages are adjusted depending upon the scam before you are transferred to the East Indian speaking poor English. There are two versions of these Fedex/UPS/DHL courier scams. One scam version tells you that some vague (fake) package is being withheld at a Fedex/UPS/DHL hub because there was not enough paid for shipping (or that your fake international shipment has extra U.S. Customs charges that you need to pay), and the India scammer asks for your Visa or Master Card number so they can add on an additional small fee (which ends up being thousands of dollars). The scammer may even ask for your Social Security number "for verification purposes". The second, more sophisticated, courier scam involves using the credit card numbers stolen from victims (Victim 1) of other scams to order lots of expensive items (e.g. electronics) and having them shipped to either Victim 1 or another unsuspecting person (Victim 2). So when the scammer asks for your name, phone number, and address, they are trying to set you up to be a "return-shipping mule" (Victim 2). The expensive items are ordered to be delivered to the address of Victim 1 who had his credit card number recently stolen. When the expensive item is delivered to Victim 1, the recipient tells Fedex/UPS/DHL that the purchase and delivery are fraudulent and asks for the package to be returned. Within one or two days, a Fedex/UPS/DHL courier is sent by the scammer to Victim 1's house with a return label to pick up the rejected shipment. But Victim 1 does not notice that the return label is for Victim 2's address, where the scammer or accomplice picks it up and gets away unnoticed because Victim 2 was also not expecting any shipments. Many India scams have their noisy call centers in India, but with some East Indian accomplices in the U.S. who help with scams, money laundering, etc. This is especially true for the fake Social Security and IRS scams, fake pharmacy setups, and fake credit services and debt collection scams that are almost entirely perpetrated by India scammers. So if you are contacted by Fedex/UPS/DHL who says they have a package and need your name, phone number, address, and tracking number, even though you were not expecting any shipments, this is likely an India scammer either trying to steal your credit card number or setting you up for a return-shipping scam!! More than 95% of all North America phone scams originate from crowded phone rooms in India that run numerous fraud, extortion, and money laundering scams every day such as pretending to be a fake pharmacy, posing as fake Social Security officers saying your benefits are suspended or fake IRS officers collecting on fake unpaid back taxes or fake bill collectors threatening you for fake unpaid debts, pretending to offer fake health insurance, car warranty, and debt, student loan forgiveness, credit card consolidation services, posing as Amazon to falsely say that an unauthorized purchase was made to your account or that your Prime membership was auto-debited from your credit card or bank account, posing as Microsoft or HP to say that your software needs renewal or they detected a problem with your computer, fake "we are refunding your money" or "your account has been auto-debited" scams, pretending to be DHL, UPS, or a bank, falsely stating that they installed ransomware virus on your computer and you need to pay them money, etc, and the scammers try to steal your credit card, bank account and routing number, or Social Security number and personal information. Some scammers try to gain your trust by looking up the name associated with your phone number and asking for you by name when they call. Many India scammers now phone you with an initial pre-recorded robotic person speaking English, Spanish, or Chinese that is easily generated using text-to-speech translation software to disguise the origin of their India phone room, but then you speak to the East Indian scammer when you take the bait and respond to the pre-recorded message. Scammers always either use disposable VoIP phone numbers (e.g. MagicJack devices) or they spoof fake Caller ID phone numbers. Anyone, including you, can use telecom software or a third-party service to phone using fake names and phone numbers that show up on Caller ID. India scammers often spoof fake toll-free Caller ID numbers that begin with "8". The Caller ID name and number is often useless with scam calls unless the scam setup asks you to phone them back. India scammers do not care about the U.S. National Do-Not-Call Registry and asking scammers to stop calling has no effect. I love to play with these scammers and keep them on the phone by pretending to be interested in their scam because many scam victims are the senile elderly. You do these scammers a favor by yelling at them and immediately hanging up. But you ruin their scams by slowly dragging them along on the phone call, calling them back if their phone number can be phoned, pretending to be interested in their product or service, pretending that you are worried when they threaten you, always giving them fake credit card numbers and fake personal information, asking them to speak louder and to repeat what they said to use up more of their energy, pretending to innocently ask the scum why he is shouting profanities at me, etc. The best defense against phone scammers is a good offense by not quickly hanging up the phone, but instead toying with them for at least 10 or 20 minutes to use up more of their time and energy so they have less time to deceive an elderly victim. Never give an unknown caller your credit card number or Social Security number. Companies who already have your information may ask for the last four digits for verification. Some India scammers ask for your bank account and routing number or ask you to wire transfer them a payment, giving a fake explanation that they cannot accept a credit card or personal check. This is an instant scammer alert because scammers can withdraw money if they know your bank account and routing number (e.g. counterfeit cashed checks) and illegal wire transfers are far less traceable than unauthorized credit card charges. India scammers may threaten to have you arrested, but the IRS, Social Security Administration, and debt collectors cannot threaten to arrest or sue you on the phone; they are required to send you paper notices by registered mail. Some India scammers ask you to use your browser to visit a website that allows the scammer to directly access and control your computer and then they can install a ransomware virus to extort money from you. If the scam sounds very authentic, ask the scammer for their verifiable company name, street address, and a callback number that can be searched and matched to the company name and address, which all real businesses will provide. Every East Indian scammer will immediately fail this test since they all use spoofed fake Caller ID numbers or VoIP numbers that they quickly dispose of. Never trust any unsolicited call because they are mostly scammers, usually with a slight or strong East Indian foreign accent, and most scam calls originate from India. No other foreign country is infested with numerous noisy sweatshops filled with phone scam criminals. These India scammers belong to the lowest India caste and many are thieves, robbers, and rapists who were serving jail sentences and released early due to prison overcrowding.

I received the call as well too. Called back and received VM. I am not going to follow up
January 29, 2020
I did call back and my address was corrected and package delivered. They are a department from FedEx which only correct the addresses when the shippers did not send the packages to the correct address. The accent did not bother me because I could understand the gentleman who assisted me, I am not racist so as long as the right service is provided, I would be grateful.

A guy named Frank called from a number that my caller ID said was from Russia. He said he was with FedEx Ground and they were trying to deliver a package and for me to call 833-372-5815 and use Reference number 910391 and leave my name, phone number and address with any apartment or suite number. Yeah, right. Like I'm going to just call and do that.
