This man asked for me, said someone using my SS# ending in **** had applied to either open an account or get a credit card (don’t remember exactly)in my name at the Capital One NY branch. He wanted to know if I would approve. He provided his own ID# and a case # at the end of the call. Advised me to contact Experian. At some point, he also mentioned my complete SS# (!) Googled the phone number in question, it’s not from the Bank. I contacted the 800 number of capital one explaining the incident. I was advised to fill up online a “suspicious communications form”. I did. Also contacted the credit bureau and now you to alert others. I didn’t provide any information. The caller knew my full name, phone number, and SS#.
