They're spoofing different numbers. I ran a search on the callback number, and I ended up finding the callback number with different call origination numbers on this site. Also, the voicemail got "jumpy" around the word "access" and the "960" part of the phone number very clearly sounded like nine sex zero, but the 2610 part was said normally -- two six one zero. Watch out for this. The IRS contacts you through certified mail! Here's the text of the voicemail I received: "hi this is Rachel gracias calling on behalf of megan kennedy office with the resolution department for nationwide tax consultants and Im following up after I was alerted to your account during a recent system update due to potebtial unresolved filings and outstanding tax balances. this could be your final chance to take advantage of updated relief programs before penalties escalate. once you call in we have direct access to verify any and all outstanding issues through our agency line no delays. call me now at 202-960-2610. a quick conversation could determine if you qualify to significantly reduce or even clear what's owed. Do not send any payments until we speak. again my number is 202-960-2610. If you prefer to stop further contact simply call the number that appeared on your caller ID."
