This number is being used for scam calls! Our elderly mother received a call from this # at 9:30pm claiming to be the Social Security office calling and convinced her to provide all her financial information.

I seen on the Internet, where this number has been turned in multiple times as being a scam. I never did call them back because I never called Social Security and this voicemail looked really odd to me. I don’t know why I didn’t block it earlier.

The caller number was 800 997 9640, the callback number was 866 226 2306. Both are legitimate social security numbers.

This number is definitely a scam. SS will never ask for bank information to try and “find” or “verify” you. Sad this is what some scammers have come to. The scam number was: +1 (800) 997-9540
