Pretending to be Bank of America
July 10, 2024
The nerve to call my home at 10 pm stating they were bank of America fraud. I said why would a bank call at 10 and he knew that I was not for his scam and hung up on me

I had a similar experience received a text telling me that detected suspicious activity. I didn't even have an account with Bank of America. They called me and what I thought was a legit call because they had all my information, I didn't provide me with anything. They then "transferred " to my bank and they asked me if my account was linked to Venmo and I said yes. It was a facetime call and then the basically told me to enter these amounts and nothing was supposed to be taken out. Well they took all my money. I have the person's name and that (which I know it's not real but it pisses me off)

Caller identified himself as the fraud department of Bank of America. He said there was suspicious activity on my account and wanted me to verify some transactions. He listed 3 Zelle transactions supposedly from my account that I agreed were all false. He then wanted me to log into my online account and check for further fraudulant transactions. I logged on, told him that all my transactions were correct. I then asked him when these fraudulant transactions occured, he said within that last few minutes. I then googled the phone number and saw that it is a scam number. I hung up on him. He tried to call back 3 times, I did not answer. Usually, if there is a fraud question by Bank of America, they first text me. I also notice that when these callers put you on hold, there is no music. All true calls from Bank of America have music while on hold. Anyway, I did not wait to see what he was attempting to get from me. If there is a problem, the bank will get ahold of me through the usual channels.

They are calling stating that someone named(Andrew Sanders) wants to get $1300.00 from your bank account through Zelle. They give you a cancellation code and transfer your call to another "Dept". They really want you to tell them your banking information. BE AWARE!!!! they are trying to get as much banking information as possible. When I was still on the phone, I google the phone number and find out it was an SCAM. I confronted the person on the phone telling him that they all ere making scam phone calls and he hanged the call.

This is a fake computer extortion scam call by criminals phoning from India. The scammer tries to convince you that because you visited a porn site, they installed ransomware on your computer that let them control your computer to record embarrassing videos of you, which they threaten to publicly post to ruin your reputation and career. They also threaten to wipe out all the data and files on all your computers if you do not pay. There are some ransomware viruses that can do this. But in every situation where you receive an extortion phone call or email like this, they are always fake threats. More than 99% of all North America phone scams originate from crowded phone rooms in India that run numerous fraud, extortion, and money laundering scams every day ranging from fake pharmacies to posing as fake IRS officers collecting on "unpaid back taxes", fake bill collectors threatening you for overdue bills, pretending to offer fake health insurance or Social Security services, car warranty and credit card consolidation services, posing as Microsoft or HP to say that your software needs renewal or they detected a problem with your computer, falsely stating that they installed ransomware virus on your computer and you need to pay them money, etc, and the scammers try to obtain your credit card or Social Security number and personal information. Some scammers also try to gain your trust by looking up the name associated with your phone number and asking for a person by name when they call. Some India scammers also phone you with an initial pre-recorded robotic female voice speaking English to disguise their foreign call center, but then your call gets transferred to an East Indian scammer with a thick accent. India scammers do not care about the U.S. National Do-Not-Call Registry and asking scammers not to call does not work. I love to toy with these scammers and keep them on the phone by pretending to be interested in their scam because many scam victims are the senile elderly. You do these scammers a favor by yelling at them and quickly hanging up. But you ruin their scams by slowly dragging them along on the phone call and giving them fake credit card numbers and personal information. Never trust any unsolicited call because they are mostly scams, and most scam calls originate from India. No other foreign country is infested with numerous noisy sweatshops filled with phone scam criminals.
