I received an email from AMEX directly after applying for a credit card online saying to call this number with additional information. Spoke with an indian man who asked for SSN and address. While on the phone he told me I got approved for the card. Had an uneasy feeling as soon as I hung up, but got an email from AMEX right after confirming I was approved. Then downloaded the app and logged in with the account I made from the link on the email, and everything was on there, including the card I applied for. I would say it is legit, though does give off an off putting feeling.

If you are expecting a call from AMEX, this number is legit. But for me, I never use AMEX and never inquired about an American Express or other credit card, and some Indian dude with a thick accent calls saying that I am late on payments and asks for my AMEX account number and Social Security number. So.... definitely is a PHISHING SCAM for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
