I keep getting calls badgering me about my dead ex-husband debts —we’ve been divorced for 35 years! I have nothing to do with any of his finances, and I am not a benificiary either. Legally, a debt collection agency that calls about a deceased relative’s debts is likely violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). Under this law, debt collectors are prohibited from contacting family members or relatives of deceased individuals to collect debts. They can only contact the deceased person's estate representatives. I keep reporting and blocking these ghouls!
