This number *supposedly* is used by Expedia. But I received a call tonight (10PM on a Saturday night!!!!) from this number with some Indian dude speaking poor English with a very thick accent saying that he worked for Microsoft and that Microsoft detected viruses on my computer, and he emphasized that I needed to get onto my computer immediately so he could direct me to a website where I could download a file that "fixes" (lmfao) the virus on my computer. At this point, I was 100% sure this was a scam - all my computers are virus-free (I have 30+ years of expert-level use of both PCs and UNIX) and Microsoft never calls people even if your PC is filled with viruses . But since this scammer interrupted my home theater movie night with my wife (movie was paused to answer this scammer's call), I decided to play with him to waste his time. I asked him which computer had the virus since I have 6 computers (true fact: wife has laptop and desktop and I have 2 laptops and 2 desktops), Indian scammer paused and then told me "the virus is on the computer that you use the most" (lmao). I told him, "All 6 of my computers are used every week, but I use my Ubuntu computer the most." Scammer obviously did not know that "Ubuntu" is a Linux OS and has nothing to do with Microsoft and he then says, "That is the computer with the virus. Go to that computer now and I need you to download a file that fixes the virus on that computer." (This is a very old scam to get you to download a ransomware virus that really locks up your computer until you pay the scammer thousands of dollars.) I continued to toy with this scammer for about 15-20 minutes, pretending to access the website that he told me to go to and repeatedly telling him that I could not see a file download link on that website (I could hear him typing and checking if his scam website was missing the ransomware file download link). Scammer finally gave up and hung up on me, and I just laughed. So BEWARE of calls from this number because scammers are now spoofing this 800-397-3342 on Caller ID!!!!
