When I answered, no one was there! However, since I've seen the number before - connected to "Microsoft Services fee of 299.99" I knew it was a scam - wanted to hear their spiel! They're spoofing this 800 number, and frankly from reading some comments, they're successfully getting people to practically give them their money - lots of it. Folks don't seem to know that you will NOT get a call from anyone with the government; you'll get a letter, then if necessary, get a call based on information you give them, and are expecting!

Received a call from them a short while ago, and they provided me with information identical to other scammer numbers found on here. Said they found an abandoned car with a vin with only 4 numbers and 2 letters, gave me a bogus (commonly used) badge number, and a commonly used case number. Will be reporting to crime stoppers.
