Voicemail drop - claimed to be an automated Social Security notification that my benefits had been placed on hold due to a discrepancy with my recent adjustment. These sharks may be monitoring for SS account activity somehow. Real activities - change in Medicare Advantage Plan - altering net benefit directly payable. Recent death of my wife triggering notification of SSA of that and initiating an SS-8 related death benefit application. What I know for sure: SS does NOT do phone notifications, they do it by mail. So - whether caller ID spoofing or by design, the number was what was showing for the 100% certain bogus 'notification' and I WILL NOT (of course) be calling them back to discuss the problem (per the instruction offered in their voicemail drop).
