Yes, they are making a donation request - for the blood that can give life to someone else. Usually they are calling the phone number of a registered blood donor to let them know there are blood drives available, either at a ARC center or a volunteer location. Donors who have O- blood are universal donors and can save the lives of pediatric patients (preemies, cancer, etc.). This is not a spam call and should not be blocked. If you are not a donor, simply notify the ARC to remove your number from their calling list; they did for me about 10 years ago when I could not give. Now that I can give, I usually schedule when I get this call.
