i just set up a payment plan with the irs , after 3 hours on the phone for $160k. ... then an hour later this number showed up. I didnt answer. but it probably really is the irs. just saying.

Just got a call from this number claiming to be the IRS. Automated message told me to log in at a website and clear money owed. Logged in to my actual IRS account and I do not owe anything and the first thing that came up when I logged in was a warning about scammers.

Called my CPA office pretending to be an IRS agent representing one of our "clients". I told them to hold while I verified their number. I let them know we were not the ones to scam and to have a good day.

Positively NOT the IRS. After wasting a 1/2 of my time on the phone with and actual IRS agent by calling the phone number on an actual IRS notice today 10/10/23 they informed me that this number is definitely a scammer!

This person called wanting me to verify an overpayment from 10 years ago. When I told her I’d have to look up the info later and give the IRS a call back, she states “no you can’t because they don’t know anything about this and I don’t have a callback number” When I questioned her because that simply didn’t make sense, she became very agitated and loud. So again I asked how would no one else at the IRS know about this besides you & why can’t I call back, she said I was very stupid and disconnected the call
