What is this scam? How do I determine if this is a scam?

While many debt collection calls are legitimate, scammers also use debt collection calls. They may call about a phony or old debt and try to scare you into paying. Debt collection scammers often want immediate payment. These robocallers may also request a method a legitimate collection agency would never use -- debt collection scammers often push for gift cards or wire transfer.

Debt Collector
Caller Name: Discover Financial

Collector asked for my name. I asked her questions - why you called me so many times and what for? She said that she had a record in her file. She works for Discover Financial. I told her that I never applied for anything with Discover Financial business and told her to remove my phone number because she scammed me. I blocked Discover phone numbers on my list.

Scam

Calls several times a day and never leaves voicemails. Finally left a voicemail for the first time today saying this is the final month they are willing to work with me. Didn't disclose a company name or department or job title.
