An unknown collector has been calling, leaving threatening messages about taking action on a claim in my county. First of all, I haven't had an account default in over 13 years and I know this for sure. I even verified on a credit review website that I have zero claims open on me. This collector has a long history of scam calling online so just another recipient of their B.S.

This same thing is happening to me daily, so tired of being threatened! BUT for all you who think they can't get your money....YOUR'RE WRONG!!!! This happened to me about 5 years ago ...all the calls and threats, no notices by mail, just phone calls. One day my daughter calls and said her account (that had my name on it too while she was in college) had a garnishment put on the account and they took $!0,000.00!!!!!!!!!!!! I went to Chase Bank and picked up all the docs and the garnishment was a signed by some New York judge and served to Chase Bank, and they followed the order and paid the money!! So, the scammers do have a way to hit your accounts and that why I freak out when they call and call because I'm afraid they are going to hit our accounts again. Funny, they didn't hit my joint account with my husband and I, they hit my daughter's account, her money, my name was on it to help her with college if needed. I had to py my daughter back $10,000.00. I have found out that you can call your bank and they note your account if your money is from SS & Disability, IF it is by law THEY CANNOT HONOR ANY ORDER TO PAY ANYTHING. Plus, part of your regular income is protected too which cannot be touched. ALSO, you can put ur money/accounts under a TRUST and they cannot get money from a TRUST unless they are seeing the Trust.

same, I actually talked to a person when I called the number back. Asked them for written validation of their claims to which they said they sent via USPS weeks earlier, they tried to get me to "settle the debt" for $X,XXX I told them to file the judgement or stop calling since they could not provide me with written proof that this was real.

Said they were calling from a law firm. Said they wanted to settle a debt (not owed by me) before filing a lien against my assets in the county where I currently live. This is illegal. When I asked for the name of the law firm, they would not provide it. Then they made up a name from a law firm that is in a movie. I reported to both FTC and CFPB. But not much they can do without a name of the company.

Its a phishing scam, they called me about a repo ten years ago and said I owed 16000, we can settle for 3500 credit card payment. They knew my last four of social, addresses, etc which all that is easy to know these days. They made it sound urgent and convincing, you got two hours, before we "file a complaint against county" Scam.

9/25-AM —They actually called my husband’s # looking for me ! On my former last name trying to bully me into paying 3k from a ridiculously old debt that had been settled or charged off 15yrs ago ! I spent the whole day stressed out and researching and then we figured it out ! Scary because she knew my last four, my husband ph# & where we live !! Looking up value of our home - BE CAREFUL. People do not give them any info over phone !! I got caught off guard that morning - and it really upset me! Tip: We both keep our Credit Reports on Freeze.

I was recently contacted from number 520 675 1288 informing me I owed significant amount of money to be collected from their office in the amount 3k from Rentacenter 2013. I never purchased anything from Rentacenter. They then said my assets and wages would be garnished, good luck I don't have any. They threatened me court matters and even if this all true statue limitations has ran out for such a collection. They continued to try to scam me.

Received a call. No voicemail. I called back and they said they wanted to settle on an account from 2010 that I let go and opened in 2008. I have never heard of the bank and they told me it was sold to capital one. So I called them. Nothing as I suspected. When I called back a man named Malik Smith said I was lying and don’t know how stuff works. Sir I work I collections and I know exactly how stuff works. As soon as I started to fight back. He hung up on me and then robo dialed me from 5 different numbers but all with the same VoIP company.

They've been calling me for several years stating they're trying to reach me to deliver legal paperwork in XX county. I called them once just because they mentioned the previous county I lived in and wanted my address to send the paperwork. I told them I an meet at the courthouse but they demanded an address to send paperwork and then cursed me and hung up. Obvious scam callers.

So I called the number back and got a recording again! A female voice said this is "The Legal Department" it went on to say that they could tell by my caller ID that the call is coming from (pause) and then my first and last name. They told me to press one if that's who I am or 2 if it's the wrong person. I pressed one because I was angry and wanted to interrogate whoever answered the phone. The phone rang a few times and then it hung up on me!! What a waste, I was ready for a fight.
