Got a text from 87848 saying tornado warning in area. Then immediately received call as well from this phone number. In my area, we always receive severe weather watch or warning push notifications, not txt or call. Didn't sign up for txt or call. Researched, checked Sherif's office listed phone numbers. Also, am a technology SME. Many people are saying is legit and from Sherifs office/CISO. Personally, overall I'd rate it at least neutral. Even if it is not 100% straight scam, who's to say it's not part of social engineering tactic. You answer, it talks, traces your line, now knows theres a human connected to, captures findings, moves onto next "random" number. That can then be leveraged later on.
