What is this scam?

Alarm company alerts are typically a legitimate form of robocall. When your alarm goes off, your alarm company will usually use a robocall to alert you about the intrusion. However, in some cases -- scammers may pose as an alarm company. They may request your personal information -- or a payment to shut off the alarm. If you receive an alarm alert from an unexpected number, or if you receive an alarm alert requesting payment or personal information -- you're probably dealing with a scammer. Call your alarm company directly at their known number to make sure an alarm company alert isn't a scam.
