This is the Chicago Tribune calling about your subscription. They had all the details about my account including the account number and current payment due. This is legit!

Scammers who have somehow gotten ahold of a list of current/prior Chicago Tribune subscribers.

Someone from Tribune called saying there was a problem with my credit card and I owed payment for last 13 weeks. Couldn't understand his name. Told him I knew a payment was just made. He insisted there was a problem and needed my credit card. I told him I'd go online and check my account myself. Went online and confirmed there was no issue.

Anna Cruz employee ID 21231413 called saying she was with Chicago Tribune and my account was 3 months past due. I do have subscription and It was paid thru March 2025. I called their bluff. They said they would look into the discrepancy.

Caller ID showed it as Chicago Tribune. "Alex" was not very literate in trying to tell me that our company owed the Chicago Tribune over $600. We do have a subscription, but it is paid in full. Have to say out of all the scam calls I receive while answering the phones, this was executed the worst of any of them.
