Computer Security Scam

Computer maintenance recording saying they will continue to charge me $199 for 20 years if I don’t call back. Scam

November 21, 2019

Scam

Recorded call said they were going to charge $199, when I called back the guy answered and asked why I was calling after a few minutes of back and forth "you called me" he finally said that my windows was expiring and I would be charge $199 unless I cancel. When I asked how to cancel he said "on your computer", then I asked who he was with and he said Microsoft of course I laughed and said nope I don't believe that. Then I asked what email was associated with the account and after a full minute of looking he asked if he could speak with me (but my maiden name which I haven't used in 20 years) and spewed off some random email addresses that I had 15-20 years ago. With that I am assure he could never have the right credit card and told him "Pound Sand Scammer and stop hacking my old ass information....have a nice day!" Don't give them anything!!!!! I listened to info but didn't give him anything!!!!

Have no idea what this is. Thank you for blocking. Just in case, I did call the # on the landline. A person answered, not a company, so hung up.

Computer Security Scam
Caller Name: Computer Maintenance

Totally bogus scam robocall says my 'maintenance agreement' expired two days ago, and my account will be automatically billed for $399 for the next three years unless I wish to cancel right away, press 1 if... at which point, if you press 1, the line drops the call. I'm an IT guy, no way would I ever pay someone that much just in case. It would be cheaper to replace the computer (for me) than to pay that kind of fee.
